Standing at the center of Xi’an, the Xi’an Bell Tower is one of China’s largest and most iconic bell towers, symbolizing ancient Chinese timekeeping and the city’s rich historical heritage.
Traditionally, the Bell Tower rang in the dawn, while the neighboring Drum Tower marked the end of the day, embodying the concept of “morning bell, evening drum”. Built with brick and wood, the Bell Tower has a base, main body, and a treasure-topped roof, combining Tang and Song architectural principles with Ming Dynasty innovations, reflecting a distinct three-eaved style. Today, this landmark remains a cultural symbol and popular tourist attraction in Xi’an.
